Derek studied Community Nonprofit Leadership and has taken many Risk Management & Human Resource courses at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He graduated in 2010.  

Derek is licensed in property and casualty insurance and is currently pursuing his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.   In 2010, he joined Hausmann-Johnson Insurance as a Personal Lines Account Executive. During this time he personally managed over 420 accounts while also creating new business for the Personal Lines Department.   In 2011, Derek became the Personal Lines Account Executive and is in charge of all new business for the Personal Lines Department.  

Derek looks forward to providing top of the line insurance products and a team of account managers and in-house claims advisors that will provide insurance services unmatched in the industry today.   Derek is an avid Badger fan and attends most home games whether it’s football, basketball, or hockey. When he is not at a Badger event or enjoying the outdoors, he is volunteering his time.  Derek is an active member of the Special Olympics of Wisconsin, Law Enforcement Torch Run, and the United Way of Dane County.
